Fisker continues to wow international automotive community | Hiero ...

Anaheim-based luxury hybrid auto manufacturer Fisker Automotive has been recognized with four more international auto design and technology awards for its flagship vehicle, the Fisker Karma, adding to its growing list of tributes from the global automotive community.

?These latest awards for the Fisker Karma rightly recognize both the stunning design and technological innovation that this car has brought to the market. We truly are bringing customers tomorrow?s car today,? said Fisker Automotive CEO Tony Posawatz.

The Fisker Karma this week was presented with Fast Company Magazine?s Innovation by Design award in the Transportation category, beating out nominees that included the Boeing 787 airliner, the Faraday Bike and Ford Fusion. A panel of independent judges comprised of executives from major US brands and companies, including Nike and PepsiCo, evaluated the awards, presented in New York this week.

Also awarded this week was the Golden Steering Wheel Award by Germany?s Auto Bild Magazine, naming the Karma as the ?Classic Car of the Future? in the limousine category. The publication?s readers vote on the very prestigious honor in the home country of world-class performance automotive manufacturing.

Fisker cofounders Henrik Fisker and Barney Koehler traveler to Germany to accept the Auto Bild award. ?As the only non-German car to win an award tonight, in the heartland of BMW, Porsche, Mercedes and Audi, we are extremely proud to be considered in such high esteem, just months after bringing our new brand to this very competitive European market,? said Henrik Fisker.

Continuing the theme of modern-era autos anticipated to be recognized as classics by future generations, Motor Trend Magazine nominated the Karma as one of its Top 10 Future Classics. The list recognizes a car?s significance in the industry, rarity and purity of design.

?The Karma is significant to Fisker and the automotive industry as the Karma is not only the first vehicle Fisker has ever built, but it?s also the first luxury extended-range electric vehicle?the Karma is a striking vehicle automobile to look at, and it?ll likely look just as good as it does today, 20 or 30 years from now,? said Motor Trend.

The fourth honor comes from Sweden, home of progressive thinking. The Karma was voted Auto Motor Und Sport Magazine?s 2012 Environmental Car of the Year for its fuel-saving hybrid design. The magazine praised the Karma?s ability to combine desirability and environmentally sustainable design. Editors also noted the car?s handling, smooth acceleration and near-silent all-electric ?stealth? mode.

These four newest accolades add to Fisker?s expanding trophy case, along with previous recognitions including BBC Top Gear Magazine?s Luxury Car of the Year nod and Automobile Magazine?s Design of the Year Award.
