Rudy Giuliani is now backing presidential contender Mitt Romney.

Rudy Giuliani?s ?personal ego? is already getting in the way as he campaigns for Mitt Romney.

New York City's former mayor said Sunday that Romney's record might not hold up against his own ? but it's still better than President Obama?s list of accomplishments.

Rudy Giuliani, a former presidential contender and a late-commer to the Romney camp, said the Massachusetts governor's economic record only looked paltry when compared to his own.

"Well, there's a certain amount of personal ego in that," Giuliani said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."

"Maybe it was circumstances or whatever, but I had massive reduction in unemployment. He had a reduction in unemployment of about 8, 10, I think it was 15%. I had a reaction of unemployment of 50%."

Giuliani said back in 2008, when he bashed Romney's job creation record as governor, it was only in comparison with what he himself had accomplished in New York City, he said.

"They had a growth of jobs of about 40,000. We had a growth of jobs of 500,000. So I was comparing what I thought was my far superior record to his otherwise decent second," Giuliani told.

"That's all part of campaigning, The simple fact is Romney has been far more successful in the things he has has done than Barack Obama," Giuliani said.
